There is a fight brewing in the Democratic Party to replace the about-to-retire Chair, Terry Macauliffe. Chris Smith (in New York Magazine) provides a scorecard with which to identify the players.
In order for this to have much significance, it does require you to care, at least a little bit, which direction the Democratic Party takes in the immediate future.
Although when you realize that there are no women and only one person of color in the mix (I have no idea whether or not any are gay-which seems like an important question at this point in time), it would seem as if the Party has some very basic political issues to address before it can even begin to think about where it's going and whose best suited to get it there.
Although I am not now and was only once very briefly a member of the Democratic Party, since the Bush-led Republicans have essentially abdicated any connection to anything human, decent or American, it does seem of some import which way this intra-Democratic fight goes.
