Anti-war artwork removed from exhibit

Bush artwork removed from exhibit

Artist says Saginaw Township taking sides

By Terry Camp

Saginaw Township, MI - It has become [one] of the most talked about pieces of art in Saginaw County.
It's nothing more than Styrofoam covered with pictures of President George W. Bush and toy soldiers, but the artwork has been pulled from one exhibit because of its controversial message.
I made this artwork actually to honor our soldiers, said artist Jason Schroeder of Bay City.

Schroeder, 29, of Bay City, calls the piece of art "Price of Arrogance." The headline was taken out of a magazine, and along with pictures of Bush, it is surrounded by soldiers caught in barbed wire.
To me they're kind of helpless, and they're tied up in all of this, Schroeder said.

It is Schroeder's way of saying he doesn't agree with the war in Iraq.
I think that the president wasn't straight with us about the reasons why we went there, he said.

Price of Arrogance was in an exhibit at Saginaw Township Hall during the month of September -- at least part of the month, because it was taken down after people complained to township officials.
I think it's a little bit scary sometimes that you can't say certain things without the fear of being called anti-American, Schroeder said.
