At the Federal Building,

at )(Duane and Lafayette streets, facing Foley Square),
A group of caravanistas, now including the Rev. Lucius Walker, are currently traveling from Texas to Washington DC in a caravan school bus containing other computers that customs would not let pass. They are visiting many cities on route to build additional support for an international campaign to free the computer equipment for delivery to Cuba.
Last Thursday's welcome home gathering in NYC turned into a very inspiring evening thanks to the presentations by Teresa Gutierrez who brought us all up date on the latest developments on the case of the Cuban 5. The presence of the returning Caravanistas and members of the Venceremos Brigade as well as the presentations by Caravanistas Espi Martel, Rev Lucius Walker who who leads the Pastors for Peace. On Thursday Walker led a candlelight vigil from the Community Church to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. Especially inspiring were the presentations by Cuban Activist Mariana Gaston & of the First Secretary of the Cuban Mission to the United Nations Jorge A. Pena, both of whom expressed the very deep heartfelt gratitude of the Cuban People
Unfortunately, at the prayer vigil, one person was arrested for the "crime of Prayer" at the entrance to the building that houses the mission. About 50 participants in the vigil made their way to the local police precinct from which the arrestee was released about an hour later.
