Aug. 20: Protest NYPD subway searches

PROTEST THE NYPD'S SUBWAY SEARCHES!
NO TO RACIAL PROFILING!
DEFEND OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES!

Aug. 20, NOON
125th & Lenox Avenue
(2,3 train to 125th)

In the wake of the London bombings, the NYPD has implemented their method of preventing "terrorism" by randomly searching the bags of subway riders. Bloomberg said the subway searches were supposed to make us safer. Tell that to Yogi Patell, a CUNY Law student who told NY1 News that he was stopped and his bag searched three times in one day. "Its hard for me to say its anything else other than profiling".

Are we suppose to believe that the same NYPD that tortured Abner Louima and killed Amadou Diallo are the same cops that are concerned with keeping us safe? That is a LIE! The bag searches are really being used to shred our civil liberties, by scapegoating Arabs and Muslims, and using racism to justify increased police repression. Just like the PATRIOT Act and the color-coded terror alert, they're not about making us safer. The point is not to stop terrorists, but to make us not forget about "terrorists". Their real aim is to cover up the real cause of the conflict: the war in Iraq. Come out and protest the bag searches, racist discrimination against Arabs and Muslims, police repression, and the source for all of this--THE WAR IN IRAQ!

PROTEST THE NYPD'S SUBWAY SEARCHES!
NO TO RACIAL PROFILING!
DEFEND OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES!
